Transit Matters in the 2026 Municipal Election
Decisions made by Kingston's next City Council will help shape the future of public transit in our community.
Before the election, Kingston Transit Riders will send candidates a short series of questions about transit priorities, investment, and the future of the system. We'll publish their answers here.
Candidates' responses will be posted verbatim, allowing riders to read their positions directly and compare what candidates are saying about the issues that matter to transit users.
Questions will focus on issues such as:
- improving transit frequency, reliability and service
- ensuring transit remains accessible and affordable
- planning for Kingston's growing population and changing transportation needs
- supporting youth, students, seniors and residents who rely on transit
- improving rider communication and public participation
- the future of Kingston Transit's fleet, including fleet electrification and the infrastructure and investment required to support it

The election page is the first step toward a much larger Kingston Transit Riders community resource. The full site is planned to launch later this fall and will make it easier for residents to find, understand and follow information about our local transit system.
